Privacy Policy
How we handle the info you share with us.
Last updated: October 8, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Category Events LLC ("CATEGORY," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you purchase tickets, sign up for our list, visit categoryparty.com, or attend an event.
1. Information We Collect
- Purchase information: name, email address, phone number, billing details, and order history, collected when you buy a ticket through our ticketing provider (Tixr, Universe, or other CATEGORY-authorized platform).
- Marketing sign-up information: name, email, and/or phone number, collected only if you affirmatively opt in at checkout, at an event sign-up point, or through the text and email sign-up forms on categoryparty.com.
- Form submissions: the information you send us through the contact, sponsor, and vendor forms on our website.
- Event/venue information: photos, video, or audio captured at the event (see our Terms and Conditions, Section 8, for the release governing this).
- Website & automatic data: when you visit categoryparty.com, we (and our analytics and advertising partners) may automatically collect your IP address, browser type, device information, and pages viewed, using cookies, web beacons, and similar tracking technologies. This includes analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) to understand site usage, and remarketing/retargeting cookies to show you CATEGORY ads on other sites. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may limit some site features.
- Promotions, contests & sweepstakes: if you enter a promotion, contest, or sweepstakes we run, we collect the information you provide to participate.
- Newsletter, feedback & survey information: information you give us when signing up for our newsletter, filling out a feedback form, or responding to a survey.
- Information from other sources: we may also receive information about you from partners we work with (such as venue, sponsor, or marketing partners) or collect it from you offline (for example, at an event sign-up table), and combine it with the information described above.
2. How We Collect It
- Directly from you at the point of ticket purchase via our ticketing provider.
- Directly from you if you check the marketing opt-in box (unchecked by default) at checkout, or sign up at an in-person list/QR sign-up at an event.
- Automatically when you browse categoryparty.com, via cookies and similar technologies.
- Offline, such as at an event sign-up table, or through partners (venue, sponsor, or marketing partners) who share information with us.
- Some information is collected passively, including via cookies and similar technologies described above and information received from partners.
3. Marketing Opt-In
We only send marketing communications (email, SMS, or event announcements beyond your specific order confirmation) to guests who explicitly check an opt-in box at checkout or sign-up. Leaving this box unchecked means you'll only receive transactional messages tied to your ticket purchase (confirmations, event-day logistics, changes to the event you bought a ticket for).
You can unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time via the link in any email, by replying STOP to any SMS, or by emailing hello@categoryparty.com.
4. How We Use Your Information
- Fulfilling your ticket order and providing event-day logistics.
- If opted in: sending you updates about future CATEGORY events, presales, and offers.
- Internal purposes: attendance analytics, audience segmentation, and event planning.
- Improving categoryparty.com and understanding how visitors use it.
- Sharing your name, email address, and event attendance with event sponsors and marketing partners, as described in Section 5.
- Creating aggregated or de-identified data (information that no longer identifies you) for any business purpose, including reporting to partners and sponsors.
5. Who We Share It With
- Our ticketing provider (Tixr, Universe, or other CATEGORY-authorized platform), which processes your order and payment.
- Cymbal, our CRM and marketing platform, which receives contact and order data synced from our ticketing provider for every ticket purchase.
- Event sponsors and marketing partners: we may share your name, email address, and event attendance with brands that sponsor or partner with CATEGORY events, so they can send you offers related to those events and their products or services, or measure campaign effectiveness. Once shared, a partner's use of your information is governed by that partner's own privacy policy, and you can unsubscribe from their messages directly with them. You can ask us to stop sharing your information with partners at any time (see Section 7).
- Payment processors, as required to complete your transaction.
- Legal and safety disclosures: we may disclose your information if required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or where we believe in good faith it's necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of CATEGORY, our guests, or the public in an emergency.
- Business transfers: if CATEGORY is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
- We do not share mobile phone numbers or text message opt-in consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing purposes.
6. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes above, or until you request deletion (see Section 7).
7. Your Rights (California Residents)
Under California law, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), to the extent it applies, California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose; to request deletion or correction of that information; and to opt out of the sale or sharing of their personal information, including our sharing with sponsors and marketing partners. California residents may also request information about the personal information we have disclosed to third parties for their direct marketing purposes (California Civil Code Section 1798.83). To exercise any of these rights, use our Your Privacy Choices page, or email hello@categoryparty.com with the subject line "Do Not Sell or Share" or "Privacy Request." If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we honor it automatically wherever we can detect it. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
8. Data Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Contact us immediately at hello@categoryparty.com if you believe your information has been compromised.
9. Children's Privacy

If we make a material change to how we use your personal information, we will provide at least 30 days' advance notice by emailing the address on file and/or posting a notice on categoryparty.com before the change takes effect. Non-material updates will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date above.
